I haven't been taking a lot of photos

I think it is because I want my new budding friends in the community to know that I am not here to be voyeuristic... but here with my deepest desire to build relationships with them. So, forgive my lack of photographs. As I sit with a group of women learning to be home health care workers in their own community, all practicing glucose testing on each other... each eager to actually be the one getting their finger pricked, anxious to see what their blood holds... I wish I could pull out my camera to capture their looks of surprise and pride. But where is the line between treating their lives as a tourist attraction and documenting people you truly find beautiful? I think the line is first establishing those relationships enough to know that I care deeply. So, please, have fun with our silly little pictures of everyday... because really, that is what this place is meant for... a glimpse in to our every day... but know that our life is made up of much more than handmade crafts and hikes in the woods and mountains. But things just take time if you are going to do them well. We love you!!!

  2. I (we) love your photos, but I appreciate even more your care for who you are with. Keep the excellent focus and love well.

    Snow-flurrily yours,
Dan and all of West Michigan

  3. Ummmm, I hope to see more, but I totally understand.

Basically, what should happen is I should come visit you and I can be the tourist....and give you the pics! ;)

    Missing you all.

  4. hey, love...

what lens are you using? i am in LOVE with your photographs, but you know i always have respected your style and creativity!

my mind is swirling with image ideas and i want to execute them, but need to research lenses to do that effectively, because my knowledge hasn't caught up to my ideas... i need something for shallow depth of field and low light.

    love ya!

  5. I once had a person who I allowed into my internal dialogue of "should I or shouldn't I, because if I ______ then they might feel offended because they don't really know my heart and my seemingly conflicting desire to honor both them and myself....etc etc etc" give me some very wise thoughts. She told me, "Why don't you just be you and stop apologizing and/or explaining yourself: give me enough credit to figure things out about you on my own."

Well, I hadn't thought of it like that before. =)

You are a photographer Tracy DiCocco.

We've said it to each other before, whether you like it or not, it is one of the gifts that God gave you and continues to bless you with: the ability to capture the ordinary and show off how extraordinary He really made it.

By the Grace of God, let them figure out your pure heart on their own, if that is what they are meant to do.

    Be a photographer.

    I love you Today.

    "I AM, now...go be."
